CUIDADOS DE ENFERMERIA EN LA MUCOSITIS DEL PACIENTE ONCOLOGICO. REVISION DE EVIDENCIAS.

Resumen


Introducción: La mucositis oral es una complicación frecuente y a menudo debilitante del tratamiento del cáncer. Afecta a la calidad de vida del paciente. Objetivo: analizar las diferentes herramientas terapéuticas que han demostrado ser útiles en la prevención o el tratamiento de la mucositis oral en pacientes oncológicos. Metodología: Se siguió un protocolo de revisión de la literatura para encontrar las mejores evidencias disponibles. Conclusiones: Es importante hacer una correcta valoración del grado de mucositis que presenta el paciente con una escala reconocida, como la de la OMS. Se sugiere el uso de protocolos de higiene oral como prevención. Una vez instaurada la mucositis, han demostrado su eficacia la crioterapia y los enjuagues bucales de bencidamina y de morfina al 0.2%. Están contraindicados los enjuagues bucales de clorhexidina en pacientes con cáncer de cabeza y cuello que se someten a radioterapia, y los enjuagues de iseganan, sucralfato y misoprostol.
